Thunderful Publishing has officially lifted the veil on SteamWorld Heist 2, the follow up to the beloved 2016 tactics game that saw players leading a crew of robots through turn-based space combat. This time around, the action has moved to the high seas as Captain Leeway and their ragtag crew of seafaring robots embark on a new adventure.
While the core tactical combat remains largely the same, with players positioning their robotic buccaneers to ricochet shots around enemy ships, SteamWorld Heist 2 introduces some new mechanics. An overhauled job system allows customizing robot abilities and loadouts, and battles now take place on a fully navigable world map where the player can explore between missions.
A Mysterious New Threat
The story sees Leeway and company investigating a strange new crisis plaguing the oceans. A deadly corrosion has begun affecting robot limbs and internal mechanisms, threatening the entire mechanical population. It’s up to the captain and their crew to uncover the source of the corrosion and put a stop to it before all of robotkind falls victim to the mysterious threat.
SteamWorld Heist 2 launches on PC and Nintendo Switch on August 8th, 2024. With its charming retro art style, refined tactical combat, and all-new seafaring setting, it promises to build upon everything fans loved about the original. Robotic piracy has never looked more SteamWorld Heist 2.
