Capcom Hackers Taken Down in a global sting.

The hacker group that gained notoriety, for infiltrating companies, including Capcom has been apprehended. This significant achievement, titled Capcom Hackers Taken Down, was a result of international collaboration, as highlighted by Europol.

Ragnar Locker, the group gained attention in 2020 for their attack, on Capcom. This breach resulted in the exposure of an amount of employee data, including information like names and passport details. They claimed to have obtained than 1TB of data a claim that Capcom later confirmed. As a result 390,000 individuals faced the risk of their confidential information being available on the dark web.

However between October 16 and 20 the activities of this group came to a halt. A coordinated operation involving countries such as Czechia, Latvia and Spain led to the arrest of the primary suspect in Paris. Authorities conducted a search at his residence in Czechia. Successfully seized Ragnar Lockers infrastructure. Furthermore five other individuals connected to Ragnar Locker were questioned by law enforcement in Spain and Latvia.

With efforts from law enforcement agencies including Japan and the U.S. Ragnar Lockers ransomware was dismantled along with their data leak website. Edvardas Šileris, who heads Europol’s cybercrime center emphasized the importance of strengthening security measures against threats. He expressed hopes that these arrests would act as a deterrent for cybercriminals.

Enough “Ragnar Locker” not served as the name, for this group but also represented their ransomware specifically designed to target Microsoft Windows devices – potentially explaining how they managed to bypass Capcoms defensive measures. The Capcom Hackers Taken Down initiative underscores the global effort to combat cyber threats, ensuring a safer digital environment for all.
