2XKO – League of Legends Fighting Game Title Revealed

Riot Games has lifted the veil on the long-awaited title for their League of Legends fighting game – 2XKO. In a new trailer, the developer provided the first in-game footage of champions like Yasuo, Ahri, Darius and Illaoi clashing in intense 2v2 battles.

Executive producer Tom Cannon shed more light on 2XKO in a “Year in Preview” video. He shared that the development team has significantly expanded and a playable demo of the game will be available at EVO Japan 2024. Riot plans to share frequent updates throughout the year leading up to the game’s launch on PC and consoles in 2025.

What Does 2XKO Mean?

2XKO

The title 2XKO is a reference to the core gameplay mechanic – 2vs2 tag team battles. Riot is positioning 2XKO’s four-player modes as the flagship experience, taking inspiration from classics like Marvel vs. Capcom. Its innovative “Fuse” system allows players to seamlessly switch between champions on the fly, capturing the team-focused essence of League of Legends.

Riot first teased the project in 2019 but provided little information since. That is changing this year as 2XKO will be playable at EVO Japan and receive regular updates leading to its 2025 launch across multiple platforms. This comes amid layoffs at Riot, making 2XKO’s success even more important for the company’s future plans.

Fans have eagerly awaited news of Riot’s foray into the fighting game genre for years. 2XKO’s reveal confirms their ambitious vision is steadily becoming a reality. With champions familiar to League players and innovative tag mechanics, 2XKO has the potential to appeal to both fighting and MOBA audiences worldwide.
